Départ pour Agrigento… Comme le bus n’est qu’à 12 h 50, j’ai du temps devant moi. Je vais faire un tour à l’église de l’Annunziata, juste à côté du B&B, mais il y a un enterrement, donc je ne peux pas la visiter. Elle date du 14ème siècle et le portail gothique est superbe.
Je récupère ma valise et je me dirige tranquillement vers la gare routière à pied. En route, je fais une halte dans un jardin public, où je découvre des volières géantes, dont une remplie de mandarins... ils sont au moins 130-150 là-dedans... je passe un moment à les observer. Quelle que soit la nationalité, ils ont bien tous le même comportement… Puis il faut que j’aille à la gare routière, située tout à côté. J’achète le billet au bar de la gare, il n’y a pas de guichet pour la compagnie Lumia. Le bus part vers 13 h, longe toute la côte sud via Marsala. Il s’arrête quelques fois pour prendre des passagers, au bout d une heure, on a à peine dépassé Marsala, il ne faudra jamais 3 h pour faire les 180 km... et puis si, 3 heures plus tard, le bus arrive bien à la gare routière d Agrigento. Je trouve mon B&B tout de suite, il n’est pas loin de la gare. La chambre est dans un appartement, au 6ème étage d’un immeuble banal. Je pars faire un tour dans la ville. De loin, Agrigento c’est une forêt d’immeubles, de près, la vieille ville est pittoresque, mais plutôt délabrée... mais c’est amusant de voir les ruelles, les rues en escalier, les voitures garées dans les pentes, je me demande comment ils peuvent négocier des virages dans ces rues pentues et étroites avec des angles droits... 
je crois qu il faut vraiment le permis de conduire sicilien pour y arriver. Le soir, je vais manger une pizza calzone aux épinards, dans un restau recommandé par l’un de mes guides. Moi, je ne recommanderai pas ce resto, je crois que c’est l’arnaque. 14 € pour une pizza calzone (certes aux épinards et ricotta) et une bouteille d’eau !!! Il vaut mieux que je me fie à mon instinct plutôt qu’aux recommandations des guides…
I am leaving for Agrigento today. As the bus is not until 12.50, I have plenty of time ahead. I want to have a look inside the church built in the 14the century, that is right near the B&B, but there is a funeral today, so I can’t look inside. Well, I could, but I don’t feel like it. The gothic portal is beautiful. Then, I fetch my suitcase and walk towards the bus station, taking my time. I stop in a public garden, where I discover several birdhouses, all of them very large and one enclosing, guess what? yes, a bunch of zebra finches. 
They are at least 120-150 in there and seem to live happily. They have space and food and I can spot at least one baby. No need to tell I stand for quite a while in front of this birdhouse. Then, I head to the bus station and buy my ticket at the bar; there is no proper company counter. The bus leaves at around 1 pm and often stops on the way to pick up new passengers. After one hour, we are still in Marsala, which is not far from Trapani, I wonder, the trip can’t take just 3 hours to Agrigento, which is 180 km away. Still, 3 hours after having left Trapani, we are in Agrigento indeed. From the distance, the city of Agrigento looks very ugly, once in the older part of the city, it is quite picturesque, though lots of renovation is needed.
I walk to my B&B, which is not far from the station, it is in a flat, at the 6th floor of a plain building. Most important, it is close to everything. I walk around in the older part of Agrigento and it is funny to see all the hilly streets, with the cars still driving up and down, 
even if it is quite narrow and the bends are sharp sometimes. I think they do need a special driving license there, I would feel unable to drive there.
I have a pizza calzone with spinach and ricotta tonight, in a restaurant recommended by one of my guides. I won’t recommend the place to anyone, I paid 14 € for the pizza medium size and a bottle of water…. Usual prices should not be more than 9 or 10 euros…
Heute geht es nach Agrigento, 180 Km von Trapani entfernt, an der südlichen Küste. Der Bus fährt um 12.50, so habe ich genügend Zeit. Ich gehe zuerst zu der Annunziata Kirche aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, sie liegt unweit vom B&B, leider findet dort eine Bestattung statt, so will ich lieber nicht rein. Der Tor ist im gotischen Stil, sehr schön. Dann laufe ich ganz ruhig Richtung Busbahnhof, da ich Zeit habe, gehe ich zu einem Park, wo ich viele Volieren finde, darunter ist eine mit vielen Zebrafinken drin, mindestens 120-130 davon. Natürlich verbringe ich einige Zeit davor... dann wird es Zeit zum Busbahnhof zu gehen, ganz nebenan eigentlich. Ich kaufe den Ticket an der Bar und los geht’s, gegen 13 Uhr. Nach einer Stunde sind wir erst in Marsala, ich kann nicht glauben, dass die ganze Fahrt bis nach Agrigento doch nur 3 stunden dauert, es ist noch weit weg. Aber tatsächlich, genau 3 Stunden nach der Abfahrt sind wir in Agrigento... Aus der Weite sieht die Stadt gar nicht schön aus, völlig stillos. Mein B&B ist in einer Wohnung, im 6. Stock von einem ganz normalen Gebäude. Aber unweit vom Zentrum... Ich erkunde dann die Altstadt von Agrigento, sehr schön ist sie nicht, es gibt ein paar schöne Gebäude, aber vieles ist ganz verfallen. 
Die Straßen sind eher steil und schmal, 
mal mit engen Kurven, ich würde nie da fahren. Am Abend esse ich mir eine Pizza, in einem Restaurant von meinem Reiseführer empfohlen. Ich werde aber ihn nicht weiterempfehlen. 14 € für eine Pizza Calzone und eine Flasche Wasser, das ist übertrieben.
