Lizelle in Sicilia: PALERMO 16.09.07

Debout à 5 h ce matin, départ peu après 6 h, arrivée à l’aéroport de Grenoble-St Geoirs vers 7 h 30, peu de monde sur l’autoroute. L’aéroport est petit, il n’y a aucun autre vol de prévu ce matin, à part celui de Palerme. Pas vraiment une intense activité.

L’avion part même un peu en avance et 90 minutes plus tard, nous voilà à Palerme. La compagnie s’appelle blu-express, c’est une compagnie low-cost italienne. L’attente des bagages à l arrivée est un peu longue, mais bon, je suis en vacances et personne ne m’attend. Je prends le bus pour rejoindre la ville, c’est un trajet de 50 mn pour rejoindre la gare, car l’aéroport est assez loin de Palerme. Ensuite, il me faut environ 15 minutes à pied jusqu’à l hôtel Regina, situé en plein centre, aux Quattro Canti, qui est la jonction des deux artères principales de la ville. J’hérite d’une chambre double, au grand désespoir du réceptionniste, mais j ai réservé il y a plus de deux mois, je n’y peux rien, ce n’est pas moi qui fait leur planning. Je pars ensuite à la découverte de la ville, jardin Garibaldi où il y a des arbres énormes, des ficus géants, avec de généreuses racines, puis la cathédrale, très belle et très massive, elle a été édifiée par les Normands à la fin du 12^ème siècle, puis la ville et ses ruelles. Que dire, c’est plutôt sale dans les rues, papiers, canettes, sacs plastiques... La circulation n’est pas trop folle, mais c’est dimanche, ça peut aussi expliquer la saleté, il n’y a pas eu de nettoyage matinal…. Il fait très chaud, environ 27°C, par contre à l’ombre, c est tout à fait supportable. Je m’offre une petite glace limoncello-yogourt, les glaces italiennes sont toujours aussi bonnes.
Je suis contente de ne pas rester trop longtemps dans cette ville, j’en ai une impression mitigée.
En fin de journée, j’ai aussi vu une procession religieuse, dédiée à la Madonna Santissima della Cintura. avec une vierge dorée. Ambiance festive, de la musique, et les voitures qui s’accumulent derrière la procession...
Je mange une pizza le soir, pas mal, mais j’en ai mangé de meilleures.

I wake up at 5 this morning, had to leave short after 6. It took me about 1 h 20 mn to reach the Grenoble airport, not much traffic on the highway. It is a small airport; there is just one flight this morning, the one to Palermo. The airline is a low-cost airline called blu-express. First time I take it.
Smooth flight, we are there in 90 minutes. It is very hot in Palermo, around 27°C, but bearable once in the shade. I take a shuttle bus to reach the centre, it takes 50 minutes to the train station. My hotel is in this area, very central, at the Quattro Canti, which is the intersection of the two main streets of Palermo. I get a double room instead of a single room, the receptionist is not very happy about that, but I did the reservation over 2 months ago, it is his problem, not mine... I start discovering the city, not really pretty, but with interesting sights. The cathedral, built by the Normans in the 12^th century, the Garibaldi garden with huge trees full of huge roots, they are ficus, the Vergogna fountain, with nice statues, street life. Quite dirty, lots of papers, plastic bags, cans on streets. Well, it is Sunday, so the cleaning might not have been done today. The traffic is pretty quiet too, many people must be out of town or sit at home. Anyway I walk around a lot, even see a religious procession dedicated to the Madonna Santissima della Cintura, creating a huge traffic jam. I eat my first ice cream, yoghurt and limoncello, delicious. I have a pizza in the evening, but I have eaten better ones.

Heute geht es früh los, ich stehe um 5 Uhr auf, fahre kurz nach 6, Richtung Grenoble Flughafen, wo ich nach 1 Stunde und 20 Minuten ankomme. Der Flughafen ist ganz klein, es gibt nur einen Flug heute morgen, der nach Palermo.
Der Flug dauert nur 90 Minuten, alles OK. Es ist sehr warm in Palermo, etwa 27°C, aber im Schatten ist es noch auszustehen. Ich muss ein bisschen auf das Gepäck warten, aber schon um 11.30 kann ich den Bus nehmen, mit dem ich in die Stadt fahre. Nach 50 Minuten bin ich am Bahnhof, von dort laufe ich zum Hotel, das nicht weit ist, schön zentral gelegen, an der Quattro Canti, an der Kreuzung zweier großer Straßen.
Am Hotel ist der Rezeptzionist ein bisschen komisch, weil er mir ein Doppelzimmer geben muss, was kann ich dafür? Ich habe vor mehr als zwei Monaten gebucht, es ist sein Problem, nicht meins, wenn ich allein in einem Doppelzimmer schlafen soll. Dann laufe ich durch die Stadt. Sehr schön ist sie nicht, aber sie hat einiges anzubieten. Kathedrale, im 12. Jahrhundert von den Normannen gebaut, das schöne Vergogna Brunnen, den Garibaldi-Garten mit enormen Bäumen, mit überdimensionalen Würzeln. Diese Bäume sind eigentlich Ficus, nichts zu tun mit denen, die wir zu Hause haben....enge Gassen, ein bestimmtes Ambiente. Die Stadt ist noch ruhig, es ist Sonntag. Ich sehe auch noch eine Prozession, mit der Madonna Santissima della Cintura... Süsser Name...
Was ich auch in der Stadt merke, ist wie schmutzig sie ist. Abfall überall, aber vielleicht liegt es auch daran, dass es Sonntag ist, es gibt dann keine Abfall-Entsorgung...
Ich esse mein erstes italienisches Eis, Yogourt-Limoncello, lecker! Abends esse ich dann Pizza, es war aber nicht das beste, das ich je gegessen habe.
