Schon wieder ganz früh aus dem Bett, es wird zur Gewohnheit! Ich möchte den Strand und die Stadt ohne Menschen erleben. Es gibt fast nur die Straßenreiniger draußen.
8 Uhr 20 bin ich im Zug Richtung Palermo, wo ich 9 Uhr ankomme. Ich laufe gleich zum Hotel, ich will dort meinen Koffer hinterlassen. Ich werde gefragt, ob ich ein Doppelzimmer mit einer Studentin teilen möchte, kein Problem, solange ich weniger bezahle. In Ordnung, ich werde nur 20 € zahlen. Dann gehe ich zu meinem Lieblingsbrunnen, 
, die Vergogna heisst, das kann man "Schande" übersetzen, weil es viele nackte Skulpturen gibt, 
dann ein paar Kirchen besichtigen, es gibt so viele in Palermo, fast eine alle 100 Meter. Die San Salvatore Kirche ist einem Theater sehr ähnlich, 
die Theatinerkirche, 
die Kathedrale.
.. dann nehme ich den Bus Nr. 389,Richtung Monreale, eine Stadt etwas außerhalb, auf einem Hügel. Von dort sieht man ganz Palermo. Im Bus gibt es viele Franzosen, darunter eine Gruppen von Jungen und Mädchen, die Jungs sind ganz verrückt nach den sizilianischen Mädchen... Es ist lustig.
In Monreale besichtige ich erst mal das Kloster, 
das aus 228 Säulen besteht, 
alle anders, 
alle ganz schön, 
mit verschiedenen Motiven 
und Skulpturen. 
Heute ist der Eintritt frei, ansonsten kostet er 6 €. Dann sehe ich mich den Dom, gleich neben an. Meine Güte! Das Innere ist ein purer Wahnsinn. 
Mosaïken überall, 
Fresken, man weiß nicht, wo man hingucken soll. 
Noch dazu gibt es eine Hochzeit, sehr grandios...

des Christus Pantocrator ist 7 Meter hoch und 13 Meter breit, wahnsinnig!
Dann zurück nach Palermo mache ich noch einen Rundgang und erlebe noch mehr 
Hochzeiten in verschiedenen Kirchen. 
Heute ist ja Samstag. 
Dann esse ich im Restaurant gleich beim Hotel, ich muss nicht weit laufen. Es ist lecker und preiswert. Ich trinke ein Glas Rotwein, es ist mein letzter Abend in Sizilien. Dann nochmals zur Kathedrale, die ganz beleuchtet ist, dann falle ich ins Bett. Die Studentin, die das Zimmer teilen sollte, ist nie gekommen, also habe ich das ganze Zimmer für mich alleine.
Je me lève encore aux aurores, car je voudrais voir la ville et la plage 
avant la foule. A 7 h, je suis déjà dans les rues de Cefalu, il n’y a guère que les éboueurs dehors… Je prends un train pour Palerme à 8 h 20 et je suis à Palerme à 9 h. Je vais directement à l’hôtel amener ma valise. On me demande si je veux partager ma chambre avec une étudiante, pourquoi pas, si je paie moins cher. Je ne paierai donc que 20 €. Puis je pars visiter quelques églises, il y en a tellement à Palerme. L’église San Salvatore, 
qui ressemble à un théâtre, l’église des Théatins, 
la cathédrale…. 
Je retourne voir ma fontaine favorite, elle est d'ailleurs à deux pas de l'hôtel. C'est la fontaine de la Vergogne ainsi nommée, car à l'époque, les sculptures de nus 
ne faisaient pas l'unanimité. Ensuite, je prends le bus 389 pour aller à Monreale, située à quelques kilomètres de Palerme. Il y a pas mal de Français dans le bus, dont un groupe de jeunes lycéens en goguette, les gars sont en pâmoison devant les Siciliennes, ils me font bien rire.
A Monreale, je visite d’abord le cloître, 
qui comprend 228 colonnes, 
toutes des chefs d’œuvre, 
mosaïques, 
sculptures d'animaux, 
thèmes religieux, 
guerriers, mythologiques…. Un vrai festival. 
Aujourd’hui, l’entrée est libre (au lieu de 6 €). 
Puis, je visite la cathédrale, qui est adjacente. Waou, quelle richesse ! 
La décoration est à couper le souffle, les mosaïques sont partout. 
Au-dessus de l’autel, il y a le Christ Pantocrator (le Tout Puissant), 
c’est une mosaïque de 7 mètres de haut sur 13 mètres de large. Il y a une cérémonie de mariage (encore une !) et je reste un moment à regarder et écouter.
De retour à Palerme, encore une petite balade, je vois d’autres mariages. C’est bien simple, quasiment chaque église a une célébration de mariage. Je vais aussi à l’église Martorana, l’intérieur est incroyable.

Je fête ma dernière soirée en Sicile. Un dernier tour pour voir la cathédrale illuminée, puis au lit. Ma compagne de chambre n’est pas là et n’arrivera jamais.
I am getting up quite early, as I want to see the beach 
and the city before every one is up. So at 7 am, I am already walking through the city. The only people there are the cleaning people at work.
I am taking a train back to Palermo at 8.20 and I arrive in Palermo at 9 am. I walk straight to the hotel to leave my suitcase. I am asked if I want to share my room with another girl tonight, ok, no problem. I just ask to pay only half of the double room 
price, which makes it 20 €.
I return to my favourite fountain 
in Palermo, it is so beautiful with all the sculptures. 
It is right by the hotel anyway, so I can see it many times a day. Then I visit a few churches in Palermo, especially the San Salvatore church, that looks like a theatre, 
with cherubs 
all over the place,
the Teatini Church 
and the inside of the cathedral. Then, I take a bus (Nr 389) to Monreale (2 € return ticket). There are quite a few French people in the bus; the young ones are just crazy about Sicilian girls. They are very funny.
In Monreale, I visit the cloister first, 
where the 228 columns 
are all masterpieces, 
with mosaics and 
fine carvings. 
I spend quite a while there. 
By the way, today is free entrance, otherwise, it is 6 €. 
Then, I visit the cathedral itself, it is truly amazing inside, with all the mosaics everywhere. 
Over the main altar, there is the Christ Pantocrator (All Powerful), 
this image is 13 meters large and seven meters high. Tremendous. There is a wedding taking place there and I attend the service for a while and continue the visit when the guests are gone. There are so many details, one does not know where to look.
Back to Palermo, I still walk a bit among the streets, seeing more weddings in various churches, among them, the beautiful Martorana 
church, then I have dinner at the small restaurant right by the hotel. It is very nice and I also have a glass of red wine tonight. It is my last night in Sicily. Then, I go to the cathedral, to see it by night, with all the lights. The street is quite calm, compared to daytime. Very little traffic and not many people. Then, it is time to go to bed. By the way, the other person who is supposed to share my room will never show up.
