Lizelle in Sicilia: PIAZZA ARMERINA-CALTAGIRONE 27.09.07

Aujourd’hui, je prends le bus pour Caltagirone. Comme il n’y a pas beaucoup de liaisons, je préfère le prendre assez tôt. C’est-à-dire à 8 h… à la gare routière, rien n’est indiqué, il n’y a pas de guichet où acheter le billet, il se prend directement dans le bus. Il y a des scolaires partout, c’est vrai que c’est l’heure d’aller à l’école. Mon bus finit par arriver et c’est parti pour 35 km en 90 minutes. Le bus s’arrête ici ou là, pour prendre ou déposer des personnes âgées. J’ai largement le temps d’admirer le paysage, magnifique, je vois même l’Etna quasiment en entier, c’est bien la première fois. A Caltagirone, je descends à proximité de la ville historique, qui est superbe. C’est la ville de la céramique, il y en a partout. Chaque maison a un détail en céramique. Il y a aussi l’escalier monumental, de 142 marches, décoré de céramiques, même le jardin public est ceint d’une balustrade en céramique. Les églises sont superbes et richement décorées. Je reprends le bus à 12 h 30, cette fois, il est rempli de scolaires, il y a de l’animation…. Je me fais une petite sieste l’après-midi, avant de refaire un tour et aller manger à la Trattoria del Goloso, sur la piazza Garibaldi.

Today, I am taking a bus to Caltagirone, a city that is about 35 km away from Piazza Armerina. As the bus connections are not so good, I prefer getting there early, it means, there is a bus at 8 am, so I have to wake up early. Once at the bus station, I don’t know exactly where it stops, so I ask a few times. At least, I know the name of the bus company, but this company also has many school buses, so it is quite a mess there. Hundreds of noisy scholars all over the place. Anyway, the right bus comes and here it goes. It drives over small roads, picking up older people on the way and stopping in small villages. I have plenty of time to admire the beautiful landscapes, as it takes 90 minutes for the 35 kms. I can see the Etna in the distance, it is the very first time I can see all of it, almost without clouds at the top. Once in Caltagirone, I ask the driver to stop me not too far from the historical centre, which is quite a distance from the bus station. Caltagirone is the city of ceramics. They are everywhere. Every building has something made of ceramics. Of course, I can see the huge stairs decorated with ceramics and the beautiful church Santa Maria del Monte at the top of it. The other churches I can visit are beautiful too. I enjoy strolling in the city park before walking back to the bus station, where I catch a bus back to Piazza Armerina at 12.30. This time, not many older people, but lots of scholars in the bus, so it is very noisy. In the afternoon, I am having a little siesta before walking in Piazza Armerina and having dinner in the nice Trattoria del Goloso, piazza Garibaldi.

Heute will ich nach Caltagirone, eine Stadt, die etwa 35 Km von Piazza Armerina liegt. Da die Verbindungen nicht so günstig sind, will ich lieber früh hinfahren, das heißt, schon um 8 Uhr... Da es am Busbahnhof keine Schilder gibt, muss ich mehrmals fragen. Ich weiß nur mit welchem Unternehmen ich fahren soll, aber da dieses Unternehmen auch viel mit Schulbussen beschäftigt ist, ist es ein ziemliches Chaos, mit Hunderten von lauten Schülern in allen Ecken. Na ja, irgendwann kommt der richtige Bus... Er fährt auf kleine Strassen, die Landschaft ist toll. Sehr hügelig und in der Weite kann ich sogar den Etna sehen, diesmal fast ohne Wolken drauf. Ich kann die Landschaft lange bewundern, da der Bus für die 35 Km Strecke, 90 Minuten braucht... Es hält oft an und die Fahrgäste sind hauptsächlich ältere Leute.

Ich steige in der Nähe von der Altstadt aus, der Bus fährt noch weiter bis zum Busbahnhof in der Neustadt.

Caltagirone ist die Stadt der Keramik. Es gibt wie immer zahlreiche schöne Kirchen, unter anderen, die Kirche der Heiligen Maria del Monte, die durch eine große Treppe zu erreichen ist. Diese Treppe ist mit Keramik-Kacheln verziert. Es gibt auch einen sehr schönen Stadtgarten.

Ich laufe zurück zum Busbahnhof um mit dem 12.30 Bus zurück nach Piazza Armerina zu fahren. Diesmal gibt es viele Schüler im Bus, es wird sehr laut und hektisch.

Nachmittags mache ich einen kleinen Schlaf und laufe noch durch die Stadt, bevor ich mir Pasta gönne (Pennette und Salat) in der Trattoria del Goloso, piazza Garibaldi.
