Lizelle in Sicilia: TAORMINA-SIRACUSA 24.09.07

Je me lève tôt, car je veux prendre le bus de 7 h 45 pour Catania et changer là-bas pour Siracusa. Le bus est très lent, car il s’arrête partout à Taormina et Giardini Naxos pour prendre des passagers (ou en déposer). Jamais je n’arriverai à avoir ma correspondance à 9 h 30. Miracle ! Le bus prend l’autoroute où il ne peut s’arrêter (sauf au péage) et j’ai 10 minutes pour acheter mon billet et monter dans le bus suivant, ce qui est bien assez. A 10 h 45, j’arrive à Siracusa. L’arrêt habituel vers la presque île d’Ortygie est fermé, car il y a des travaux dans les rues, le bus me dépose donc çà environ ¼ d’heure à pied du début de la presque île. De Taormina à Siracusa, ce sont 120 km, il faut compter 3 h en bus, si on n’a pas trop d’attente à Catania, sinon, c’est plus….

Mon B&B, Casa Cristina, se trouve au début de la presque île, dans un bâtiment ancien. Il y a encore un ascenseur antique, avec les portes manuelles…. Ma chambre est très grande et décorée avec goût,, elle donne sur une grande place. Je pars assez rapidement à la découverte d’Ortygie, ses ruelles et ses places. Beaucoup de bâtiments sont en cours de rénovation, mais la ville a énormément de charme. La place de la cathédrale est immense et très belle. Après quelques heures passées dans la vielle ville, je rejoins la ville nouvelle et visite le parc archéologique qui renferme le théâtre grec, construit il y a 2.600 ans. Il est superbe et pouvait accueilli jusqu’à 15.000 spectateurs. Heureusement, il y a moins de touristes, même si les groupes se suivent… mais ils restent assez peu. Il y a aussi l’oreille de Dionysos, immense grotte artificielle, dont l’entrée est en forme d’oreille. Avant de rejoindre Ortygie, je passe à l’église de la Madone des Larmes, dont le toit conique est impressionnant de l’intérieur. On dirait un immense chapeau, bien qu’il soit supposé représenter une larme. Ensuite, je flâne le long du port d’Ortygie, où il y a quantité de barques colorées. Le soir, je me fais un petit restau, avec bruschette et pâtes, on s’y habitue bien…

Ich muss früh aufstehen, da ich den Bus um 7.45 nach Catania nehmen will und dort umsteigen, Richtung Siracusa. Normalerweise habe ich in Catania 30 Minuten Zeit zum Buswechsel. Der Bus ist aber so langsam, hält überall an, vor allem in Taormina und Giardini Naxos um Leute zu nehmen, dass wir es nie schaffen werden. Nur auf der Autobahn kann er schneller fahren, dort darf er nicht anhalten. Ich schaffe es trotzdem, in Catania meinen Ticket zu kaufen und den richtigen Bus zu erwischen. 10.45 komme ich in Siracusa an. Zwischen Taormina und Siracusa gibt es 120 Km, mit dem Bus muss man mit 3 Stunden rechnen...

Da es eine große Baustelle auf der Hauptstrasse gibt, kann der Bus nicht nah an das historische Zentrum kommen, so muss ich ein bisschen weiter aussteigen, aber zu Fuß sind es nur 15 Minuten. Das B&B, Casa Cristina, befindet sich am Anfang der Ortygia Halbinsel, wo das historische Zentrum liegt. Das B&B ist sehr schön, in einem schönen alten Gebäude. Das Zimmer ist groß und bequem. Bald laufe ich zur Stadt, wo es viel zu sehen gibt. Es gibt aber auch viele Baustellen, soviel wird renoviert. Der Dom Platz ist sehr groß und beeindrückend. Nach einigen Stunden in der Altstadt laufe ich zum Parco Archeologico della Neapoli, das sich in der modernen Stadt befindet. Dort steht das Teatro Greco. Es wurde vor 2.600 Jahren erbaut. Es hat Platz für 15.000 Zuschauer. Es ist sehr, sehr schön und ich bleibe lange dort. Ich sehe auch das „Ohr des Dionysios“, eine künstliche Höhle, im Form einer Ohr. Auf dem Weg zurück nach Ortygia sehe ich mir die Kirche „Madonna delle Lacrime“ an, die im Form einer Träne sein soll. Drinnen ist es schon was, riesengroß, mit diesem hohen Dach, im Form eines Hutes. Dann sehe ich mir auch den Ortygia-Hafen an, mit vielen bunten Booten. Abends esse ich mir leckere Bruschette und Pasta in einem Restaurant in der Altstadt.

I wake up quite early, as I want to catch the 7.45 am bus to Catania and then take another bus to Siracusa. I normally should have around 30 minutes for the interchange, but the bus is very slow and takes so many people on the way, especially in Taormina and Giardini Naxos, I wonder if I’ll ever make it. It drives on the highway afterwards, so it is a bit quicker. Anyway, I have less than 10 minutes to buy my ticket and get into the next bus, which is enough actually, as it is all at the same terminal. I arrive at Siracusa at 10.45 am. The distance between Taormina and Siracusa is 120 km. 3 hours!!!

As there are lots of road works in the main street in the centre of Siracusa, the bus stop is a bit farther from the place where I want to go, but after 15 mn walking, I arrive at the B&B, called Casa Cristina. It is situated on the Ortygia peninsula, where the historical centre can be found, the B&B is right at the beginning of it. The B&B is in a beautiful historical palace, and my room has a view over a square with antique monuments. My room is tastefully decorated and huge.

I soon start walking to the historical centre, much of it is being renovated, so many buildings are hidden behind scaffoldings. The ones that are not hidden are beautiful. The cathedral square is very impressive and the cathedral itself too.

I also decide to visit the archaeological park, that is in the modern part of the city. I decide to walk there as well, it is not that far and I need exercise. There I can see among other things the Greek theatre, beautiful and the Dionysos’ear, a cavity that looks like an ear. I also meet some very friendly cats, one curling around my neck, as if we had been friends for ages. Cute! Then, on the way back to Ortygia, I stop at the modern church called Madonna delle Lacrime, in the vicinity of the archaeological park. The architecture of the church is in the form of a tear. The inside is very impressive, as the ceiling is like a huge witch's hat seen from inside.Then, I stop at the port of Ortygia, as there are many colourful boats there. I decide to go to a nice restaurant for bruschette and pasta.
